Description:

Oil Based Mould Release Agent (Shuttring Oil) is specially formulated blend of mineral oils and chemicals having release properties which are superior to those of conventional mould oil. The chemicals react with the alkali in the concrete to form a thin water repellent skin on the surface of the mould, thereby enabling easy striping from concrete and acting as a protection to steel and wooden formwork. It is supplied as a pale straw coloured liquid ready for direct application and use.

Uses:

To provide quick, clean and easy stripping of moulds, and formwork and ensure high quality fair-faced and stain-free concrete.

Advantages:

  • Ensures easy release, good fair-faced concrete.
  • Can be used on all types of formwork.
  • Minimises surface blemishes and staining.
  • Minimises cleaning of shutters before re-use.
  • Reduces opportunity of damage to formwork, extending usable life.
Technical Data:

Specific gravity: approx. 0.84 at 27 °C Service temperature: Suitable for use with steam cured concrete. Formwork surfaces: Equally effective on wood or metal moulds and shutters. Particularly effective on GRP and other resinous coatings including Oil Based Mould Release Agent coated wooden surfaces. Non-staining: Does not stain concrete and can also be used safely with white cement. Concrete surface quality: In addition to preventing adhesion of the cement paste to the mould or shutter face, Oil Based Mould Release Agent allows air, which would otherwise be trapped, to escape from the face when the concrete is being poured and vibrated. Pockets of air, trapped on the shuttered faces of concrete, are a major cause of imperfections, necessitating remedial work. Oil Based Mould Release Agent avoids time and money spent on this. The chemical reaction between Oil Based Mould Release Agent and the cement in a concrete mix produces a strongly hydrophobic surface. This repels surplus water at the interface with the

Re-Use Of Moulds:

Due to excellent release properties, little or no deposit of cement paste remains on the shutter surface. Minimum cleaning down and further coat of Oil Based Mould Release Agent renders shutters ready for reuse.

Coating:

It can be applied by brush, sponge or conventional mould oil-sprayer. If a mould oil-sprayer is used, care should be taken to ensure that the correct nozzle size is chosen. Stir the contents of the container thoroughly before use. Apply one coat of Oil Based Mould Release Agent thinly and evenly over the entire surface.

Coverage:

Coverage between 20 to 60 m2 per litre is possible depending upon the porosity and texture of mould surface.

Packaging:200 litre drums & 20 litre containers.

Shelf life: 12 months if stored in cool dry place and under shaded area. It must be stirred thoroughly before use
